HAJJAT APHWA KAWAASE SEBYALA AND SAHAM ASSISTANCE WIN THE 2019 AIO HALL OF FAME AWARD IN THE INDIVIDUAL AND COMPANY CATEGORY RESPECTIVELY

INDIVIDUAL CATEGORY

Mrs. Hajjat Aphwa Kawaase Sebyala from Uganda is the winner of the 2019 edition of the African Insurance Hall of Fame Award. He was selected by the panel of judges from a list of nine contenders who were all seasoned insurance professionals of the African Insurance industry.

According to the Chairperson of the Award jury, Ms. Hope Murera, MD of ZEP-RE, Hajjat Sebyala has an exceptional professional profile, being the first female insurance professional in Uganda and having mentored most of the top insurance managers in her country.

Born on the 21st November 1958, Hajjat APHWA KAWAASE Sebyala (Mama Insurance), is the true motherly face of insurance in Africa as her name depicts. She was the First Ugandan Female Professional Insurer. She is presently the Deputy Board Chair of the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda.

Hajjat Sebyala is a Management Consultant, founding Director of Energizing Solutions Ltd, a consultancy firm offering insurance solutions among others. Among the several duties she has performed for the insurance industry in Uganda in particular and Africa at large, Hajjat Sebyala was the Hon. Secretary of the Insurance Institute of Uganda (IIU) in charge of Capacity Building programmes, Hon. Secretary of the Uganda Insurers Association (UIA), Technical Manager at Pan World Insurance Company (PWICO) where she trained, groomed and Mentored many staff. She is one of the 10 Eminent Women of Uganda, and an International Climate Champion popularly known as MAAMA GREEN.

Her 37 year insurance journey covers all the broad areas of insurance . She has motivated many ladies to join the Insurance Industry. She is the founding Chairperson of Women in Insurance in Uganda (WIN).

Hajjat Sebyala was part of the formulation team for the Africa Union Agenda 2063 and the AU Gender policy, and is a Presidential Medal recipient in Uganda in 2016

On the academic perspective, Hajjat Sebyala holds a (Bachelor of Sciences(BSC) Degree from the Makerere University, Kampala, a Diploma in Business Management (DBM) from the Institute of Public Administration, a First Class Masters in Management Studies Degree (MMS) from Uganda Management Institute. She is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) UK, a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Uganda (FIIU) and Chartered Insurer of the CII UK, as well as several Certificates in Corporate Governance, Gender, Management, Mentoring and Coaching.

En outre, plus d?”un million de personnes assurées ont bénéficié de l?”assistance automobile offerte par l?”entremise des compagnies d?”assurance, au cours du dernier exercice. L?”assurance voyage (proposée par l?”entremise d?”intermédiaires ou de systèmes bancaires) pour sa part, a enregistré un total de 282 000 assurés, alors que l?”assurance diaspora (distribuée par l?”entremise de réseaux bancaires) a enregistré un total de16 000 assurés.

Tous ses efforts dans les domaines de l?”innovation et de la qualité de service lui ont permis d?”obtenir la certification ISO de façon continue depuis 1999. De surcroît, SAHAM Assistance est la première compagnie d?”assurance au Maroc à être certifiée ISO 9001 : 2015 et SERVICERT.
