The AIO – African Insurance Organisation kicks-off its Agriculture and Climate Insurance Certification Project in collaboration with the IFC – International Finance Corporation and Global Inclusive Insurance Facility (GIIF) of the World Bank Group.
The AIO was the selected institution to implement the capacity building for agriculture and climate insurance seminars. The first phase of the two-track training program will use GIIF’s 2024 Modules on Technical Design and Premium Calculations for Crop Climate Insurance, focusing on Excel based methods to calculate premiums and assess risks using historical rainfall data and insurance parameters.
Phase 1 for English-speaking African countries is on-going in Kigali, Rwanda with 58 participants under the auspices of the Rwanda Insurers Association – ASSAR.
These participants are drawn from Tanzania, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Zambia, Uganda, Liberia, Kenya, South Africa, Namibia.
